ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis said he did not miss a meeting, nor was he being disciplined during Monday night’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Davis did say he was a little late to a meeting during the week.
But he said he did not blow off any meetings.
“That’s not true,” Davis said.
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan would not deny a report by NBC-Channel 4 during the game that said Davis had missed a meeting. Shanahan spoke in general about how they handle disciplinary action, but also never said Davis wasn’t being punished.
He also said he knew before Monday’s game that he wouldn’t be a factor. Indeed, he only played 10 snaps.
“It was in the game plan,” Davis said. “That’s pretty much it. I already knew I wasn’t going to. I knew I’d get a few chances, a few snaps, a few opportunities.”
Davis had not been active since Oct. 13 against Dallas. That’s why he said he wasn’t too disappointed with what happened Monday.
“It’s been like that most of the season, so I’m used to it,” Davis said.
