ORLANDO, Fla. – The NFC coaches breakfast is this morning, which means we’ll have a chance to sit with Redskins coach Jay Gruden for an hour. Among the things that likely will be discussed:
1.Free Agency. Gruden touched on this Monday, talking a little bit about receiver Andre Roberts. But we’ll now get a chance to talk about other players they signed, how they fit in and what is expected. What are they going to do at guard and which spot will Shawn Lauvao play? Why not just elevate one of the young players they already had on the roster?
2.Robert Griffin III. Again, Gruden has discussed his quarterback a couple times, but we can probe a little deeper about this. There’s not a whole lot to discuss here because they haven’t even worked together yet, but it will be a topic – not just because of the importance of the position, but because of how things ended last season.
3.Adjusting to life as a head coach. It’s very different, as you know. But he’s having to implement a program for the first time while getting used to the demands of the position. They are vast. I know the Redskins were still applying the finishing touches to the playbook a week or so ago. Curious if they’re now finished. I’d love to see the playbook, but I have a hunch that won’t happen.
