The Washington Redskins receiver said reports of him being a problem in the Philadelphia Eagles' locker room are amusing. Former teammates were silent for a while after he was cut and then signed by Washington. But some have since spoken out for him, including running back LeSean McCoy.
Jackson also said quarterback Robert Griffin III was willing to give up the No. 10 to him -- but a steep price set by the NFL blocked any possibility.
"Some people took it like 'He hasn't learned yet, he's coming in and wants RG III's number,' " Jackson said. "RG told me if you want it, you can get it. That's how cool he was. He's like, I'll rock 3, you know my name is RG III. But the league was too invested on his jersey. It's cool."
(For the record: Not sure I buy that Griffin would have given up the number for him. Trust me on this: He knew the NFL would never allow it. But could he have said it half-joking, knowing it would never happen? Sure. If nothing else Jackson seems to believe Griffin would have done this for him. Maybe that's what matters).
Anyway, here's what Jackson said about the locker room aspect:
"The funniest thing, man: All this stuff like, 'He's not a locker room player, he don't get along with his teammates,' the people that really know me, they're like 'Man where is all this coming from? I had teammates texting me and hitting me up, teammates that's still on the Eagles right now, like 'What were they talking about you ain't a team guy, you don't get along with people in your locker room?' Everybody in the locker room loved me, you feel me?"
Everybody? I've heard too many things to believe that part, but did he have his defenders? Sure seems that way.
"I know who my real homies are," Jackson said. "The real homies stepped up. My boy LeSean McCoy, one of the best running backs in the NFL, he stepped up, he said some real stuff. But in this league bro, a lot of people are scared and afraid to speak up, because they feel like they're gonna be the next one cut. They feel like they're gonna be the next one cut. So the ones that really did step up and speak up, I salute all of them."
