The Redskins signed free agent fullback Stephen Campbell on Tuesday, filling the final roster spot with players reporting to training camp a week from Wednesday.
The Redskins had the open roster spot because of safety Tanard Jackson’s indefinite suspension, announced last week. They have expressed confidence in their young safeties and therefore did not feel the need to add another one.
But they only had one fullback on the roster in Darrel Young, so this gives the Redskins another player to take repetitions at that position during camp.
Indianapolis signed Campbell as a free agent in April, but he was cut a month later. He played at West Virginia Wesleyan from 2009-12, catching 65 passes as a tight end.
