Let the Durant sweepstakes begin

The Thunder might not get a hometown discount with Kevin Durant, but they will meet with this summer's most prized free agent before other suitors. The negotiating period will begin at midnight ET on Friday.

Stats & Info

Strikeouts not enough for David Price

For the second time this month, Price took the loss in a game where he struck out at least 10 batters. He's only the third Red Sox pitcher to have that happen to him multiple times before the All-Star break.

David Price's self-assessment after 4-0 loss to the Rays: "Bad. Again." Wasn't happy with his changeup or curveball. "It's crushing me right now," he said. "I'll take the blame."

Hanley Ramirez's right side did, in fact, tighten up after that big swing in the sixth inning. Day-to-day, according to manager John Farrell.

Red Sox go quietly in the top of the ninth, lose 4-0 to the Rays, and finish a mostly miserable road trip with a 2-4 record, having been outscored 42-28 in Texas and Tampa Bay. Boston went 10-16 in June and is 42-36 overall.

Hanley Ramirez is replaced here before the bottom of the eighth inning. He appeared to injure his back on a ferocious swing-and-miss in the sixth. He was due to bat second in the bottom of the ninth, the Red Sox trailing 4-0.

Guyer takes Price deep for solo shot (0:26)

Including today, David Price has allowed at least four earned runs in six of his 17 starts. Last season, he gave up four or more earned runs in only five of his 32 starts. Rays have hit lefties well all season, but they're without lefty-mashers Steve Pearce, Steven Souza Jr., Logan Morrison and Oswaldo Arcia.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

David Price has eight K's through four innings ... but four runs allowed, and that's what matters. Given his high K rate, I still think he can work through some of these issues, but this is the sixth time in 17 starts he's allowed 4+ ER, after doing that five times all of 2015.

Shaw joins Williams, Manny in Red Sox lore

Travis Shaw went 3-for-5 with five RBIs on Tuesday. It marked the third five-RBI game of the season for Shaw, who did it against the Braves on April 26 and vs. the A's on May 10. The only other Red Sox players to produce at least three five-RBI games before July 1 are Ted Williams (four in 1949, three in 1950) and Manny Ramirez (four in 2005), the Elias Sports Bureau reports.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Veteran outfielder Chris Young underwent an MRI in Boston on Monday that revealed what John Farrell described as "a little bit more injury to the hamstring than the physical exam in the training room." Initially, Farrell said Young was diagnosed with a Grade 1 (mild) strain. Timetable on Young's return not yet clear, but won't be before the All-Star break.
