Early rankings: Pats right at the top

As long as Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are around, the Patriots are going to be tough to beat. Our panel has them as the top team in the AFC as we look toward the 2016 season. Way-too-early Power Rankings

Where does Tom Brady rank himself?

Brady doesn't think he's one of all-time great QBs, but he does laud former Niners great Joe Montana. 'Michael Jordan of football'

Crystal ball: Mario joins the Patriots

Mario Williams is as good as gone in Buffalo after a rough season, but Dan Graziano thinks Bill Belichick might be interested. Perhaps the Hoodie could get 14.5 sacks out of Super Mario. Crystal ball for 2016

Record crop of Celts points in Garden

The Celtics scored 46 points in the first quarter of their 128-119 win over the Kings at home on Sunday. Elias Sports Bureau reports that's their highest-scoring period at TD Garden, which opened as the FleetCenter in 1995.

Mike Reiss ESPN New England Patriots reporter

The Patriots have an opening for an offensive line coach, and they have been in discussions with longtime assistant Dante Scarnecchia about coming out of retirement to fill the void. While Scarnecchia retired after the 2013 season, he has remained around the team, primarily helping with evaluations of college offensive linemen entering the NFL. Scarnecchia's willingness to discuss a return to the coaching staff in 2016 is an indication that his retirement from coaching might be short-lived, as it would be a surprise at this point if he isn't back on the Patriots sideline for next season.

Denver continues to dominate

Super Bowl 50 was the Broncos' third title in the past 25 seasons. Only the Patriots have captured more Lombardi Trophies during that stretch.

Mike Sando ESPN Senior Writer

The Panthers do a great job limiting Cam Newton's pure pass drop-backs, but that is much harder to do when trailing by nine points in a fourth quarter. Look what happened to Tom Brady when New England went heavy with five-man protections and pure drop-backs. Brady got smashed. These third-and-longs for Carolina are rough.

Heather Burns ESPN.com

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady got a mix of cheers and boos when he was introduced with Super Bowl MVPs.

Favre's record, but not for long

Newly minted Hall-of-Famer Brett Favre's record for career regular-season wins doesn't appear likely to stand the test of time. Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, if he returns for another season, is poised to break the mark in the near future.
