The Patriots placed WR Aaron Dobson on season-ending injured reserve (ankle) and signed safety Dewey McDonald to take his place on the 53-man roster, according to ESPN NFL Insider Field Yates. Dobson injured his ankle in Mondays win over the Bills. The Patriots are thin at receiver, with Julian Edelman sidelined with a foot injury, Danny Amendola limited by a knee injury, and Keshawn Martin limited by a hamstring injury. The only healthy receivers on the current roster are Brandon LaFell and undrafted rookie Chris Harper.

WR Danny Amendola (knee) was limited in the Patriots practice on Thanksgiving morning. Amendola injured his knee on Monday night and had an MRI on Tuesday. Amendola sprained the knee, according to Comcast SportsNet and is not expected to miss extended time. His status for Sunday nights game against the Broncos, however, remains in question. An additional injury note for New England: OT Sebastian Vollmer (concussion) has been removed from the teams injury report.

Terrell Owens wants to work out for Pats

Owens may be less than two weeks out from his 42nd birthday, but he's still hoping for one last shot at the NFL -- and he'd be open to a chance with the receiver-thin Patriots. "Knowing Tom [Brady] and understanding the structure of what Bill Belichick, how he runs his ship, I have no problem with that," Owens told the Boston Globe.
