By Dave Dombrowski's count, there were maybe five teams that qualified as sellers a month ago, and the same five are willing to deal now, too. Otherwise, the trade market still hasn't taken shape.

Unlike after Clay Buchholz's previous start, Red Sox manager John Farrell wouldn't commit to the embattled right-hander making his next start. But Farrell also suggested there might not be a better internal option.

Red Sox fall, 6-2, and drop to four games off the Orioles' pace in AL East for the first time since April 12. Rough week for Sox, who went 2-5 and weren't winless but for the grace of a walkoff win Thursday at Fenway and an improbable ninth-inning comeback here Friday night.

Steven Wright allowed three hits with his fastball (Moreland's two-run single, Beltre's RBI single, Andrus' three-run triple), which matches his season-high. He also gave up three hits on his fastball June 10 at Minnesota. Including tonight, he has thrown 263 fastballs (16.2 percent of his pitches) and allowed 15 hits, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Steven Wright allowed a season-high eight runs, five in the fifth inning. But thanks to errors by Xander Bogaerts and Hanley Ramirez, only three of the runs were earned, leaving his ERA at 2.18, which still leads the American League.

Former knuckleballer Tom Candiotti was one of the first to tell Steven Wright to throw his knuckler when he's ahead or even in counts, his fastball when he's behind. It's a formula that has worked for Wright. There, though, Mitch Moreland pounced on a 2-0 fastball for a two-run single that gave Rangers a 3-1 lead through four innings.
