BOSTON -- J.D. Drew said he had a cortisone shot in his left shoulder two days ago to help alleviate some of the inflammation in his joint, but that he should play this weekend and will be ready for the postseason.
Drew has been out of the lineup the past two games and is not in Friday's lineup against the Indians. He hasn't taken any batting practice in order to let the shot take effect, and give his shoulder a rest.
"It's just kind of getting irritated and aggravated the last month or so," Drew said. "It was just the grind and the wear and tear of getting ready for the games it was more like a tendinitis feeling."
Drew said he had a similar issue with the shoulder earlier this season, and he received a cortisone shot then, which helped.
"We just gave it a few days to get that swelling and inflammation out of there," Drew said. "I should be good to go."
