Dustin Pedroia: Surgery could be Friday

BALTIMORE -- Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia acknowledged that he may have surgery as early as Friday to place a screw in his fractured left foot, depending on the results of the CT scan he will undergo that morning.

"Putting in a screw is probably the best idea,'' Pedroia said, "because there is a 90 percent chance that bone heals. I don't want to get to January, go through my workouts and don't feel good and miss some of next year. None of us want that to happen. I ...
