Jacoby Ellsbury out of lineup

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Red Sox center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury was out of Boston's lineup Saturday, a day after being hit in the back by a pitch.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona said Ellsbury was sore and may not be able to play Sunday at Kansas City.

"He's got a good, old-fashioned, big contusion," Francona said before the Red Sox lost to the Royals 9-4.

Ellsbury was hit by Royals reliever Everett Teaford in the eighth inning Friday night. He said he underwent tests Friday.
