Zdeno Chara returns to ice

BOSTON -- Bruins captain Zdeno Chara will return to the ice for the home preseason opener against the New York Islanders after missing time with a knee injury.

Chara sat out the "Black and White" scrimmage Tuesday and the preseason opener Wednesday at Ottawa, which the Bruins lost 2-1 in overtime. He had suffered a contusion Monday when an errant clearing shot hit him in the right knee during practice.
