Andrew Ference suspended for hit

The NHL on Sunday suspended Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference three games for his Saturday hit on New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh.

Ference will foreit $36,486.48 in salary during the suspension. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Ference was assessed a five-minute major for charging and given a game misconduct for his hit on New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh at the 1:50 mark of overtime. The Rangers capitalized on the opportunity ...
