Will Middlebrooks could head to DL

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Boston Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks could be headed to the disabled list due to hamstring tightness.

Middlebrooks was not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics, and no timetable has been set for his return.

Boston's rookie slugger experienced tightness in his left hamstring after stealing second base in the ninth inning of Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners.
