John Lackey throws live session

BOSTON -- Boston Red Sox right-hander John Lackey threw 15 pitches in a live batting-practice session Saturday at Fenway Park.

It marked the first time Lackey has faced hitters since undergoing Tommy John surgery last offseason.

A decent crowd of teammates (mostly fellow pitchers), Red Sox staffers and manager Bobby Valentine all looked on during the throwing session. Daniel Nava and Ivan De Jesus served as the hitters.
