David Ortiz could earn up to $30M

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox announced Monday that designated hitter David Ortiz has signed a two-year contract with the team that is worth $26 million, with incentives that could bring the value as high as $30 million.

Ortiz, who made $14.575 million this past season on a one-year deal, will get a $1 million signing bonus, and make $14 million in 2013 and $11 million in 2014, according to a team source. The source also said the 2014 salary could escalate to between $13 million and ...
