Will Middlebrooks, David Ross out

BOSTON -- Red Sox manager John Farrell said after Wednesday's 15-8 loss to the Twins that an MRI taken of Will Middlebrooks' ribs came back clean and he expects the third baseman to return to the lineup Thursday.

Both Middlebrooks and catcher David Ross sat out Wednesday's game in the aftermath of Tuesday night's collision.
