David Ross placed on concussion DL

BOSTON -- The Red Sox placed catcher David Ross on the seven-day concussion disabled list moments before Sunday's matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays. Catcher Ryan Lavarnway was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to take his place on the roster.

Ross started Saturday in Boston's 3-2 loss to Toronto before being removed for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth inning. The team announced that he sustained the injury during the game, but did not provide further details. Ross took several ...
