The Deutsche Bank Championship, scheduled for Sept. 2-5 at TPC Boston in Norton, Mass., is expected to run as scheduled despite the likely arrival of Hurricane Irene.

Championship Week play, which includes pro-am competitions on Tuesday, Aug. 30, and Thursday, Sept. 1, is also expected to run on schedule.

Tournament officials said they made preparations for the storm's arrival, including disassembling small, temporary structures and removing signage and other vulnerable items.

"While the weather has provided us with some challenges, we're confident that we have taken all the right steps to be fully prepared," said Eric Baldwin, director of the Deutsche Bank Championship.

"Forecasts are now showing the worst of the weather to hit us Sunday afternoon, so we expect that we'll be able to recover in time and not have any of our scheduled events that are open to the public affected. Safety is always our biggest concern. We will re-assess the situation Monday morning and take every step to ensure that our spectators are safe and have a terrific experience at the Championship."
