BOSTON -- A day after the controversy that erupted between Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine and third baseman Kevin Youkilis -- with a few inflammatory comments from second baseman Dustin Pedroia thrown in for good measure -- all was quiet on that front Tuesday.

"We're good," Youkilis said. "We're one happy baseball family."

Youkilis, who had expressed confusion with Valentine's comments in a TV interview that called the veteran's physical and emotional effort into question, said Tuesday he had moved past the issue.

"I don't really want to talk about that right now," Youkilis said Tuesday in the Red Sox clubhouse. "I talked about it yesterday. That's all I've got for you. We've moved on. We're ready to play Texas."

Youkilis was fifth in the lineup on Tuesday against the Texas Rangers, a day after sitting out with what Valentine termed a sore groin.

Youkilis went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts as the Red Sox were routed, 18-3. He is batting .176 with no home runs and three RBIs on the season.

Youkilis was asked his thoughts on having Pedroia come to his defense on Monday. Pedroia had said, among other things, that "that is not the way we go about our stuff around here," referring to Valentine's critical comments of Youkilis.

"It's always good when your teammates have your back," Youkilis said. "We stick together. The environment here in Boston can be tough. We have to stick together and we've done a pretty good job of it."

Valentine, who apologized to Youkilis before Monday's Patriot Day game against the Tampa Bay Rays, was asked Tuesday if he thought there would be any lingering repercussions because of what had transpired with Youkilis.

"No way to know," Valentine said. "I hope not."
