BOSTON -- Boston Red Sox right-hander Josh Beckett, who was placed on the disabled list June 16 (retroactive to June 12) with what the club called inflammation in his pitching shoulder, will pitch Saturday night in Seattle, manager Bobby Valentine said after Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jays.
Beckett will be eligible to come off the DL on Friday. Jon Lester is scheduled to pitch the series finale against the Jays on Wednesday, with left-hander Franklin Morales scheduled to open the four-game series in Seattle on Thursday night. Aaron Cook will pitch Friday, Valentine said, with Beckett going Saturday and Felix Doubront on Sunday.
Daisuke Matsuzaka would then pitch Monday night in Oakland. Valentine said he plans to use a six-man rotation through the All-Star break.
The Red Sox have gone 10-3 in Beckett's absence.
