After a disappointing start, Tom Brady and Co. find the groove, with the biggest contributions made by tight ends Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski. Brady is off rhythm early, but once he finds more comfort in the pocket with better protection up front, the results improve as Patriots pass-catchers do great work after the catch.
Rookie Stevan Ridley gets the bulk of the work and delivers with the extended workload (81 yards, 15 carries, 1 fumble), while BenJarvus Green-Ellis is used in more of a short-yardage role. It's generally a good day for the rush offense when a two-point conversion is successful on a rush up the middle, which the Patriots did with Danny Woodhead.
If grading just the first quarter, it would be an F, but the unit rebounds. Defensive end Mark Anderson gets his 10th sack of the season, while the insertion of Julian Edelman in the slot and Sterling Moore in the nickel helps the D reverse course. Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick throws for 246 yards in the first half and is held to 61 in the second. Defensive backs record four interceptions.
