New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, who has been out since Week 2 with an ankle sprain, returned for Sunday's 24-23 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Hernandez, who had been out since injuring his ankle Sept. 16 against the Arizona Cardinals, made six catches for 30 yards and scored on a 1-yard pass from Tom Brady. Hernandez was targeted nine times, third most on the team, and was charted on the field for 37 of 86 offensive snaps (penalties included) by ESPNBoston.com

Hernandez was one of three tight ends on the 46-man game-day roster, along with Rob Gronkowski and Daniel Fells. Michael Hoomanawanui is inactive.

The Patriots' other inactive players were defensive end Jake Bequette, offensive lineman Matt Tennant, safety Steve Gregory, linebacker Tracy White, wide receiver Julian Edelman and linebacker Dont'a Hightower.

Seattle defensive tackle Clinton McDonald was inactive with a groin injury suffered last week against Carolina. He was doubtful on the final injury report.
