FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Fighting for a spot on the New England Patriots' roster, quarterback Tim Tebow played the entire second half of the team's 28-20 victory against the visiting New York Giants in Thursday night's preseason finale.

Tebow finished 6-of-11 for 91 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked four times and rushed for 30 yards on six carries.

Asked if his performance enhanced his chances of making the roster, Tebow said, "I'm not sure. I don't make those decisions. ... I'm blessed because of my faith that I don't have to worry about the future because I know who holds my future. A lot of times people use that as a cliche, but it's something I try to live by. It really gives you a lot of peace in whatever circumstance you're in."

One of Tebow's highlights was a 52-yard touchdown to rookie receiver Quentin Sims on a third-and-10 play early in the fourth quarter. He made a nice throw over the middle, and overpursuit by safety Cooper Taylor allowed Sims to race the final 30 or so yards for the touchdown.

Tebow pumped his fist in celebration, and was greeted with slaps on the helmet and high-fives by some excited teammates.

"He had the boo birds out the play before and then he comes back and throws a touchdown," Patriots backup quarterback Ryan Mallett said of Tebow's first touchdown. "It just shows what kind of player he is, his character."

Later in the quarter, Tebow underthrew rookie receiver Aaron Dobson on a long pass down the left sideline and was intercepted by cornerback Trumaine McBride.

"Just a little bit of miscommunication; my fault, I led him too far inside," Tebow said. "So you definitely want that back, you don't want a turnover at that point in the game. But I felt like I was in pretty good rhythm and pace with the receivers and I feel like we're getting better every week."

Tebow's final touchdown pass came with 6 seconds remaining as he lofted a pass to Sims in the back right-hand corner of the end zone.

Tebow had played 31 snaps in the team's preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, then 20 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before not playing in the team's "dress rehearsal" third preseason game against the Detroit Lions last week.

The Patriots have kept just two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster in three of the past four years.

Tom Brady and No. 2 quarterback Mallett are entrenched atop the depth chart this year.

Mallett played the entire first half against the Giants, finishing 10-of-16 for 117 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
