Kelly, who suffered a broken right fibula Dec. 7 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, missed 22 games. Before the injury, Kelly had three goals and four assists and was a minus-1 in 29 games. He'll be back in the middle on the Bruins' third line between Loui Eriksson and Carl Soderberg.
"I'm playing tonight and I'm excited," Kelly said. "It's my first game back in a while and it's almost like training camp again. It's an exciting time. You're either ready or not and I feel good."
Spooner has played 22 games for the Bruins this season, posting 11 assists and a minus-1 rating. Before his recall, the 21-year-old forward had five goals and 18 assists for 23 points in 21 games for Providence.
"He has been really good for us," Julien said of Spooner. "But at the same time he still has some things to work on. We can look at his point production, at the same time he has no goals. So he's got to learn to start taking more goals to the net.
"He's a great playmaker; he was a minus-1 player. We knew at times when he got stuck in our own end with his line, he was really struggling with helping out with the D. So parts of his game still have work, but there is -- to me if he keeps improving the way he has, there's a good future here for him. Love his speed, love his creativity and everything else, but when you play in the NHL you need a little bit more than that. He's going to work on that and there's probably a good chance you're going to see him here again this year."
Trotman has played in two games for the Bruins and 32 games for Providence this season.
