Boston Bruins forwards Milan Lucic (wrist) and Chris Kelly (back) underwent surgery recently and are expected to be ready for the start of training camp in September, general manager Peter Chiarelli said in a statement issued by the team Friday.
Lucic was sporting a brace on his left wrist at the team's final media access of the season after being eliminated by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. He said he first felt the discomfort in Game 1 against the Habs.
Kelly suffered a herniated disk in his back in the fourth-to-last-game of the regular season at Minnesota. He didn't play in the playoffs, but was trying to do everything he could to return to action before undergoing the procedure.
