WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Boston Bruins coach Claude Julien said defenseman Adam McQuaid (eye) will not be in the lineup for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the Washington Capitals on Thursday at TD Garden.
"He didn't skate again today, so he's certainly not going to be part of our lineup tomorrow [Thursday]," Julien said.
McQuaid injured his eye on a hit by the Capitals Jason Chimera on March 29. He missed the next three games before returning to play against Ottawa on April 5. But he played just seven minutes in that game before leaving in the second period and didn't play in the Bruins regular season finale.
The availability of defenseman Johnny Boychuk (knee) will be decided on Thursday, according to Julien. Boychuck hasn't played since April 3 when he was hurt on a collision with Penguins forward Arron Asham.
"He's feeling fairly good, so we want to remain optimistic with him," Julien said.
