Patrice Bergeron, Joe Corvo hurt

BOSTON -- Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron and defenseman Joe Corvo both suffered undisclosed injuries during the Bruins' 4-3 loss in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the Washington Capitals Saturday at TD Garden.

Bergeron was on the receiving end of two hits late in the game and was limited to only 1:30 of playing time in the third period. According to a team source, Bergeron should be able to play in Game 6, but he will be re-evaluated Sunday in Washington.

Corvo blocked a shot before Washington's first goal at 11:16 of the second period and was clearly in pain. He remained on the ice for a moment and when the referees did not whistle the play dead, Corvo attempted to get to his feet but was basically immobile when Alexander Semin scored to give the Capitals a 1-0 lead.

Corvo's status for Game 6 is also unknown. He was limited to 7:39 of ice time on Saturday.

Bruins coach Claude Julien was livid after the Game 5 loss because he thought the whistle should have blown with Corvo on the ice.

"Well that was probably the frustrating part for me," Julien said. "We were in Washington last game and twice their players go down in their own end and we had full control of the puck and the whistle was blown right away with no hesitation and tonight we're deciding we're not. So, I guess I was a little perturbed. Is there two sets of rules or one?

"And I know they're different referees but it's still the same series so that was frustrating because they ended up scoring a goal on that. Again, that was my frustration on that goal and it's unfortunate that's how it ended up."
