2012: Double trade up for Jones and Hightower

Two trades up in the first round -- from 27 to 21 to select Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones, then from 31 to 27 for linebacker Dont'a Hightower -- created excitement because the Patriots had identified their targets and were aggressive in giving up midround picks to get them.
