The Sox decided they needed one more veteran arm to take them to October, and they gave up a quality rookie (Jose Iglesias) to land Peavy, who has never been on a team that got past the first round and hasn't pitched in October since 2006. He will have the chance to prove that his reputation as a great competitor, even without the stuff he once had, is warranted. -- Edes
