Durability

Mexican fighters have a well-earned reputation for durability, and Chavez proudly carries that torch. Even in many of his wins, he has taken massive amounts of punishment (especially to the head, where punches routinely leak through his porous defense), yet always seems to emerge from fights showing little damage. Martinez is no slouch himself when it comes to holding up to an opponent's offense, but he knows his way to the canvas and has been KO'd before (in 2000, by Antonio Margarito), so the choice here is pretty clear.

Advantage: Chavez
