Since landing in Spain in 2001 with a handful of euros in his pocket and a few telephone numbers scribbled on a piece of paper, Sergio Martinez has fought against all odds, in anyone's backyard and without compromising his quest to become boxing's best by fighting the best. Had Chavez found himself in Martinez's situation at the same point in his career, perhaps he would have done the same. But it can't be ignored that he was able to grow under the guidance of his Hall of Fame father and one of the world's top (and most protective) promoters, which, until very recently, ensured that Junior never stepped into the ring with a guy he could't beat. This gives the Argentine an undeniable edge.

Advantage: Martinez
