Marquez and Beristain are masters in the art of counterpunching, a tool that has given Pacquiao much trouble in their past two bouts. Along the way, Marquez has also improved his defense. That ability allowed him to first confuse and then complicate Pacquiao after the sixth round of their third fight, when the Filipino fighter appeared overwhelmed. Pacquiao is a good strategist and knows when to take the step back, but there were flaws in his technique in his past two fights that, if not corrected, could be decisive against Marquez.
