Sources: Andre Berto injures arm
Andre Berto suffered an arm injury on Monday training for his Feb. 11 rematch with fellow former welterweight titlist Victor Ortiz, putting the fight in jeopardy, two sources involved in the fight told ESPN.com.
"He had to go the hospital to get it checked out and he is hurt. I know the fight is in jeopardy of not happening on that date. It didn't sound good," one source said.

On whether the fight would be postponed, another source said, "When one of the guys in the fight is in the hospital for an arm injury two weeks before the fight, that is bad news."
Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, who is Ortiz's promoter, told ESPN.com that he had spoken to Al Haymon, Berto's adviser, and that he was at the hospital with Berto. Schaefer said Haymon told him that Berto was undergoing an MRI exam and that the extent of the injury was not known, so no decision could be made yet on the status of the fight.
Berto is training for the fight at the Ten Goose Gym in Van Nuys, Calif., with trainer Tony Morgan.
The first thrilling slugfest took place April 16 at the Foxwoods resort in Mashantucket, Conn. Ortiz and Berto were knocked down twice apiece -- including both of them hitting the deck in the memorable sixth round -- with Ortiz ultimately winning a unanimous decision to claim the welterweight title he lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September.
Also in September, Berto (28-1, 22 KOs) rebounded from the defeat to win another version of the 147-pound title. However, Berto relinquished his belt in order to pursue the high-profile Showtime rematch with Ortiz (29-3-2, 22 KOs) rather than fight a less-lucrative mandatory defense against Randall Bailey.
