WBC fines Dereck Chisora for slap
MUNICH -- The World Boxing Council has fined challenger Dereck Chisora for slapping heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko during the weigh-in.
WBC president Jose Sulaiman says the British fighter was fined for his "unsportsmanlike behavior" Friday. Sulaiman says Klitschko "behaved like a gentleman and kept calm."
Chisora slapped the 6-foot-7 Ukrainian across his left cheek with his open right hand and insulted him the day before Saturday's title bout, which Klitschko won unanimously on points.
The WBC did not disclose how much Chisora was fined for his "disrespect," but said the proceeds would be split between two charities.
