TAMPA, Fla. -- Mark Weinman returned from a nearly 21-year layoff -- a record for the longest time between fights -- to stop Elvis Martinez at 39 seconds of the second round Friday night.
The 50-year-old Weinman, the New York middleweight billed as the "The Hebrew Hammer," improved to 12-3 with his 10th knockout. He won the first 11 fights of his pro career, then retired after losing three straight fights -- the last to Kelvin Prather in a light middleweight bout on Sept. 20, 1991.
The 32-year Martinez is from the Dominican Republic.
