In his first fight in almost nine months, Antonio DeMarco was pushed to the brink by Fidel Monterrosa before knocking him out in the fifth round on Saturday at the Tecate Arena in Tijuana, Mexico.

DeMarco (29-3-1, 21 KOs), a former lightweight titleholder, finished the fight with a cut above his left eye due to an accidental head butt by Monterrosa (31-8-1, 25 KOs), who went down twice before the fight was stopped.

It was DeMarco's first fight under the Zanfer Promotions banner, which is negotiating a bout between DeMarco and the winner of Oct. 1's Mike Alvarado-Ruslan Provodnikov junior welterweight championship fight.

In the undercard, Daniel "Bad Boy" Rosas (16-0-1) stopped Roberto Castaneda (20-4, 15 KOs) in the second round of a scheduled 10-round bout. After a violent exchange in the first round, Rosas pounced on Castaneda at the start of the next round, forcing the referee to halt the contest 11 seconds into Round 2.
