Five keys for Curtis Stevens

10/31/2013 - Boxing

After a promising career that has yet to really take off, Curtis "Showtime" Stevens enters what appears to be his most important fight to date.

Stevens (23-3, 18 KOs) challenges unbeaten Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KOs) of Kazakhstan for his middleweight title. Not only will Stevens, a Brooklyn native, be fighting more or less in his own backyard at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York, he has fearsome power in both hands and will have to be very clever to beat a faster and rangier opponent.

Here are five keys to victory for Stevens against Golovkin:

Precision and counterpunch

Total concentration

It's now or never

In and out

Corner alert
