White Sox at Indians

Where/when:Progressive Field, 6:05

Starters:Jose Contreras (2-7, 5.19 ERA) vs. Jeremy Sowers (2-5, 5.44 ERA)

What's happening:The Sox keep chugging along -- the team has now won six of its last seven on the strength of a solid outing by Clayton Richard. The left-hander earned the rain-shortened win after working six innings and now it's up to Contreras to put up another solid outing of his own. The right-hander was dominant, at times, during his last outing against the Cubs. He just made one bad pitch to Geovany Soto which ultimately led to a 5-4 loss. Contreras should feel comfortable against the Indians considering he is 5-2 lifetime against them with a 3.25 ERA.

Keep an eye on: < Jim Thome. If I were Sowers I would probably just try and walk the Sox's slugger. Thome is 4-for-8 against the left-hander over his career with three home runs and seven RBIs.

Cubs at Pirates

Where/when:PNC Park, 6:05

Starters: Randy Wells (2-3, 2.57 ERA) vs. Virgil Vasquez (1-0, 3.00 ERA)

What's happening: Is the Cubs' offense ever going to get back on track? The team only managed six hits off Ross Ohlendorf and the vaunted Pirates' bullpen on Tuesday night. As usual, no matter how well Wells pitches, he probably isn't going to get enough run support to earn the win. The good news for Cubs fans is that the right-hander will probably be able to keep the team in the game. Wells has given up just four earned runs over his last 13 2/3 innings of work.

Keep an eye on: Sam Fuld. He's getting the start in front of Alfonso Soriano, who will have time to think things over. Fuld, who will lead off, was hitting .286 with 20 steals for Triple-A Iowa before being called up Monday.
