Cubs send down Dan Straily

The Chicago Cubs optioned pitcher Dan Straily to Triple-A Iowa while recalling outfielder Matt Szczur, the team announced on Sunday.

Szczur, 24, was a fifth-round pick of the Cubs in 2010. He was hitting .261 with a home run and 24 RBIs and 30 stolen bases in 116 games this season at Triple-A. He's known for his defensive prowess in the outfield, having committed just one error this season. He'll make his major league debut the first time he enters a game for the Cubs.
