Pat Fitzgerald finalizes new deal

Northwesternfinalized a new 10-year contract for football coach Pat Fitzgerald on Tuesday.

Salary figures won't be disclosed because Northwestern is a private institution.

Fitzgerald received a seven-year contract extension in June 2009 that takes him through the 2015 season.

Northwestern started working on Fitzgerald's extension in January, after Michigan expressed interest in the coach for its vacancy. Athletic director Jim Phillips had Fitzgerald return from a recruiting trip ...
