Blackhawks sign Sheldon Brookbank

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks signed defenseman Sheldon Brookbank to a two-year contract, the team announced on Sunday.

Brookbank will be paid $2.5 million over the two years, according to a source.

"The Hawks were a team I kind of hoped would have some interest," Brookbank said. "They have a good, young team with a lot of potential and they're proven winners and I'm happy to join them and help them get back there."
