NHL preseason games canceled

NEW YORK -- The NHL has canceled all preseason games through Sept. 30, the league announced Wednesday.

It is believed that more cancellations -- including the New Jersey Devils-New York Islanders preseason contest at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Oct. 2 -- will follow as the lockout continues, sources told ESPNNewYork.com.

Although not surprising -- the league was expected to cancel the soon-approaching games shortly after the collective bargaining agreement expired at midnight ...
