Ron Capps tops Funny Car qualifying

JOLIET, Ill. -- Ron Capps led a flurry of three-second Funny Car runs to take the No. 1 qualifying position Saturday night at the Route 66 NHRA Nationals.

Capps had the first three-second run in Route 66 Raceway history with a 3.988-second pass at 320.28 mph in a Dodge Charger. He earned his first No. 1 qualifying position of the season and 15th overall.
