"I've been dealing with my groin since five days ago," Strop said after the Cubs 5-1 loss. "Some soreness and stuff. It's been five days and it's still bothering me bad."
Strop said he hurt his groin in the gym doing lunges. He indicated he couldn't throw his slider on Tuesday due to the pain and tried to "get away with throwing my sinker." He gave up three runs on three hits and a walk in one-third of an inning before leaving.
"I wanted to pitch," Strop said. "I wanted to see if doing those motions was going to hurt.
Strop has struggled with his command this season. After Tuesday's outing his ERA climbed to 4.97. He said he hopes to avoid a stint on the disabled list.
Chicago Cubs reliever Pedro Strop will have an MRI on his groin on Wednesday after leaving Tuesday night's game against the White Sox in the ninth inning.
