PITTSBURGH -- Chicago Cubs outfielder Emilio Bonifacio left Thursday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after grounding out to shortstop to lead off the game.

After making contact, Bonifacio fell to the dirt with what the team described as an injury to his right rib cage.

Chris Coghlan took his place in the lineup playing left field, while Junior Lake moved over to center.

The Cubs were shut out, losing to the Pirates 4-0.

Bonifacio will receive additional evaluation, according to the team.

"He'll get checked out in the morning in Chicago, and we'll see where he's at and make a determination after [that]," manager Rick Renteria said.
