The Chicago Cubs have signed left-handed reliever Trever Miller to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, according to two sources familiar with the deal.

Miller, who turns 39 in May, had a 3.80 ERA, but a 1.74 WHIP, in 48 appearances for the Cardinals, Blue Jays and Red Sox last year. But he has held left-handed hitters to a .225 career batting average over 13 big-league seasons.

The Cubs would be his ninth major league team.
