CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins after being hit in the face by a pitch against the Chicago Cubs and missing the past two games.

Konerko was struck by a split-finger fastball by Cubs pitcher Jeff Samardzija in the third inning Friday at Wrigley Field. Konerko suffered a small laceration over his left eye and swelling. He did not return to the game Friday and remained out of the lineup on Saturday and Sunday while the swelling subsided.

Konerko, who is batting .367 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs this season, will return to the No. 4 hole in the lineup against the Twins on Tuesday at U.S. Cellular Field.
