CHICAGO -- Paul Konerko will return to the Chicago White Sox's lineup Thursday after missing two games due to soreness in his left wrist after undergoing a procedure to dislodge a fragment.

Konerko will be the designated hitter and bat fourth against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. Adam Dunn will play first base.

Konerko leads the American League with a .366 average. He also has 11 home runs, 33 RBIs, a .445 on-base percentage and a .617 slugging percentage.

Konerko first noticed the fragment in his wrist during the 2008 season and has often been able to maneuver it himself. Twice, last June and on Monday, he was unable to dislodge the fragment from an area that affected him and had to have a doctor flush it to another area. He had the procedure done on Tuesday.

Konerko had considered removing the fragment completely after last season, but it didn't bother him again after the procedure in June, and he assumed he was done with it. He said Wednesday he would likely remove it after this season.

"It was good the rest of (last year)," Konerko said on Wednesday. "It just hung out and never got in there again. That's what we're hoping again. I think we're pretty certain after the season is we're going to get to this thing out this time, so we won't have this problem again."
