Manager Robin Ventura indicated that Youkilis sustained the injury rounding first base on a third-inning RBI single. Ventura said he didn't think the injury was serious.
"When I got the hit, I was watching the ball and didn't have a feel for where the bag is," Youkilis said. "When I got to the bag, I just turned my left foot and just rolled right over the bag. Wasn't smart on my part."
Youkilis is expected to return to the lineup on Friday. The White Sox have Thursday off.
"I'll be good; it's just mild," Youkilis said. "I wasn't moving. It just locked up on me. I had to go get some work on it. It'll be fine by Friday.
"I just wasn't moving too well left and right. You can't help the team when you're out at third base if you can't really move."
He was 1-for-2 with a RBI before departing.
Youkilis was replaced by Eduardo Escobar.
The 33-year-old Youkilis has revived his season since being acquired on June 24 from the Boston Red Sox. He's hitting .277 with five homers and 20 RBI in 25 games with Chicago.
He hit .233 with four homers and 14 RBI in 42 games with Boston this year.
